Evaluation of Multi-stage Frac of Hz Wells (MFHW’s)
The technologies of applying Multi-stage Frac of Hz Wells (MFHW’s) has been growing exponentially bringing new life to reservoirs that were uneconomic to exploit only a few years ago. The technology of frac execution has significantly improved; however, the frac design optimization is still neglected, as the “cookie cutter approach” is still widely used. Several tools will be discussed; analytical and numerical, for MFHW design optimization and performance analysis including the following criterion:
The optimum Hz well spacing
The number of fracs, frac spacing, and the size of fracs
Open hole vs. cased hole well completion
How to take advantage of the “sweet spots”?
Evaluation of well fracability by integrating rock mechanic knowledge and well testing tools (DFIT, injectivity/fall-off tests)
Case study; to evaluate actual performance of MFHW’s
Interesting 3D visualization/animation output from numerical modeling will be displayed to emphasize the concepts above.
Typically this L&L starts at 11:30 am (complimentary lunch is offered by PMG) and the technical presentation usually runs from 11:40 am until 12:50 noon, leaving 10 minutes for questions at the end.
