People still struggling to find work post-JobKeeper should not be ‘overlooked’

Shadow Minister for Industry and Innovation Ed Husic says there are still many people struggling to find work after the government’s JobKeeper scheme has come to an end and they should not be “overlooked”.

“I’d have to say people should be careful about making assumptions based on the national jobless rate that that happens evenly across the country,” he said.

“In my part of Western Sydney, we traditionally will experience unemployment lagging and this was my big concern last year when we were told we were in a recession.

“Some people will do better quickly, and others will find it hard to get work”.

“There are people going through trying to work out how they’ll pay the grocery bills and the roof over their head and make sure the kids have got uniforms … that will still happen now and they should not be overlooked”.
