Assigning IP Addresses to 5034 POINT Guard I/O via Ethernet

Setting up your second 5034 Point Max I/O shouldn't be a headache just because you can't use your phone on the plant floor. While the NFC reader is a great feature for quick configuration, many industrial environments have strict policies regarding mobile devices. In this video, we demonstrate how to assign a static IP address to your 5030-AEN2TR adapter using a dedicated Ethernet tool. We utilize the PLC Tools SIM-IPE to perform a DHCP discovery, locate the unassigned device, and quickly set it to a specific IP address on our subnet.

Once the address is assigned, it is vital to toggle the setting to static to ensure the device retains its identity after a power cycle. This method is reliable, professional, and keeps you compliant with plant safety rules while getting your hardware ready for Studio 5000 programming. After your communication path is established, you can move directly into your ladder logic or function block configurations to get your system operational.
