In this video, I interview Bill Walker at the 2025 Wanenmacher Tulsa Arms Show to discuss one of the most remarkable Ruger firearms ever created — the legendary John T. Amber Rifle.

This extraordinary rifle is a Ruger No. 1 chambered in .45-100 (2.6") Sharps. It was commissioned by Bill Ruger in collaboration with renowned Gun Digest editor John T. Amber. The rifle was presented to Amber as a gift in celebration of his 25th anniversary as editor of Gun Digest.

John T. Amber was a towering figure in firearms journalism and is best known for his long and influential tenure as editor of Gun Digest, shaping generations of shooters, collectors, and enthusiasts.

What makes this rifle even more remarkable is the craftsmanship behind it. The engraving was completed by world-renowned master engravers Lynton McKenzie and Winston Churchill, turning this Ruger No. 1 into a true piece of functional art.

Accompanying the rifle is a custom-fitted case crafted by the acclaimed Marvin Carroll Huey Jr., a master craftsman celebrated globally for his exceptional bespoke firearm cases.

This display represents more than just a rare gun — it’s a story of collaboration, craftsmanship, legacy, and friendship within the firearms community.
