Here's How TERRIBLE Joe Biden's Home Town Of Wilmington, Delaware Looks Now

Does Joe Biden even KNOW what's going on just a few miles from his mansion?

Wilmington, Delaware. The hoods here are the only hoods that I’ve visited before where the action was hotter in the morning than it was at night. It’s a hard place to try and understand - it’s not big enough to get national attention, but a lot of Wilmington is really dangerous and super poor. I’ve been to most of this country’s terrible areas. But I’ve never seen anyone overdosing on a sidewalk. Within 5 minutes of getting to Wilmington, I saw TWO people dying on the street.

So we’re going to explore Wilmington a little bit, and try to figure this place out. And of course, we’ll discuss how this is Joe Biden’s stomping grounds. He has a big fancy home only 20 minutes from where we’re driving right now.

So it was a pleasant day in Wilmington the day I arrived. It was mostly sunny in late February, and not too cold for being so far north. When I got there, the first thing I did was drive to Joe Biden’s house. I wanted to see how the president of the US lives. Who wouldn’t, right?

However, sadly, it would not happen on this trip. He was in town, and they have a big roadblock getting into his neighborhood. I don’t think he would agree with many of the things I have to say on this channel, so I don’t think I’d get a pass through there. Here’s what his house looks like in case you care. It’s worth about $2 million bucks.

But, for perspective, I was able to get into the next neighborhood over. This is what that looks like. This neighborhood looks very similar to the one he lives in, just with less armed guards all around.

The Bidens actually have two houses in Delaware. The other one is this $3 million home in Rehoboth Beach. Good for you, Joe!

From Joe’s hood, I headed downtown, about a 20-minute drive, to see what that looks like. Downtown Wilmington isn’t really all that - it’s small and unappealing. Some streets are sorta okay, others are pretty beat up. I had expected more since Wilmington is one of the credit card capitals of the country.

There are only 70,000 people here, and the population is dropping fast. At its peak in 1950, Wilmington had 110,000 people. That’s a 40% decline. Why, you ask? Well, this state is stagnant. It’s been a one-party state for the past three decades. And by one party, I mean liberal.

This state is 45th in population, but on paper it’s the ninth wealthiest per capita in the union, where the per capita GDP is $66,000. That’s higher than even California. Most of that wealth is concentrated in the rich pockets in and around north Wilmington, in neighborhood’s like Joe’s. And because Delaware’s state laws allow loop holes for corporations, many large companies make the Wilmington area their home.

I hadn’t even had time to really let it sink in when I turned a corner and saw a second person overdosed.

So we come to after hours Wilmington. This is when we get into the nitty gritty of what’s REALLY wrong with this place. Here’s what’s interesting about Wilmington’s worst hoods - I’ve been to a LOT of bad places, but this was the first one where it was way more active in the early morning than it was at night. You guys always say - Nick why don’t you drive around dangerous hoods at night so we can see what it’s like? Well, here you go people. It’s pretty much a letdown. Everyone was inside, probably drafting emails to send to Joe Biden about how bad their city is.

Now crime here is super bad and we’ll talk about that. But it’s actually not AS bad as it was 5 years ago when Wilmington was up there with nearby Philadelphia, Camden and Chester PA for number of crimes per capita. At one point, the murder rate here was 10 times higher than the national average.

Overall, while minor crimes have gone down, the murder rate has not. The last two years have seen a 70% uptick in murders here. If you looked at every single US city, Wilmington has the 13th highest murder rate, and for all other cities of its size, only Saginaw and Flint Michigan have higher crime rates.

Today, Wilmington PD has the OPPOSITE approach. They’re just letting criminals do what criminals do here because they’re AFRAID to do their jobs correctly.

This is Wilmington’s flagship street. It’s called Market Street. It’s not really all that, - though they are gentrifying the area a lot.
