MNCASA 40-Hour Advocacy Training: The Art and Science of Sex Offender Treatment
Join Project Pathfinder and MNCASA for the webinar "The Art and Science of Sex Offender Treatment." The purpose of this webinar is to facilitate a conversation between sexual assault advocates and service providers for those who commit sexual offenses. Through this conversation we will foster the recognition that while serving different populations, we share a common goal: to prevent sexual violence and abuse. This webinar will provide attendees an opportunity to learn more about the perpetration of sexually abusive behaviors. This includes information about what constitute abusive sexual behavior, who perpetrates sexual harm and abuse, why individuals perpetrate sexual abuse, and how our society responds to those who engage in sexually abusive behavior (from a legal, correctional, and treatment standpoint). Also included in this webinar will be a discussion on how myths about “sex offenders” can perpetuate harm, and what methods are used to ensure those who offend do not reoffend.
