VIII Winter Olympic Games - Squaw Valley - 1960

This 19-minute film contains original KCRA-TV news footage of the VIII Winter Olympic Games in Squaw Valley, California, in 1960. it includes scenes of Olympic torch bearers running through downtown Sacramento, the opening ceremony, and interviews with local spectators. An appearance by the Official Olympic Pillow is also seen.

At 8:30 in the video, there is 90 seconds of footage from the February 28, 1960, ice hockey game between Canada and the Soviet Union. Canada prevailed 8-5 in a high-scoring affair, which earned them the silver medal and relegated the Soviet Union to bronze.
