The Best King's Indian Ever! - Lc0 vs Stockfish NNUE

Opening: King's Indian Defense
Title: The Best King's Indian Ever! - Lc0 vs Stockfish NNUE

Hello Chess Friends and welcome to the channel. In today's video I have another fantastic game played by the hybrid engine Stockfish NNUE. Hybrid because the idea is to add the positional understanding of the neural networks like Leela 0 to the calculating ability of Stockfish . In the last weeks NNUE played some good games against Lc0 but lost the match. This new engine needs to improve and in fact he is playing new games against Stockfish 11 and Lc0. Some days ago Lc0 and NNUE played a fantastic game, a King's Indian that for many , is the best King's Indian game ever played. Lc0 with the white pieces, Stockfish NNUE with Black. Let's watch and judge the game together.

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 {the King's Indian. The engines are playing by
the book and will play by the book for the first 14 moves} 4. e4 d6 5. Nf3 O-O
6. Be2 e5 {we know that the richest continuation is} 7. O-O {that doesn't
release the tension in the center} Nc6 8. d5 Ne7 9. Ne1 {is the main
continuation} Nd7 {clears the f-file to push f5 and begins the kingside attack.
The Knight is also controlling c5} 10. Be3 f5 11. f3 {so that the bishop is
able to move back to f2} f4 12. Bf2 g5 {white begins the queenside operations}
13. b4 {also controlling c5} Nf6 14. c5 Ng6 {There are 381 games in my
database and White scores almost 58% From now on both engines will think by
their own. Lc0 continues on the queenside with} 15. a4 h5 16. c6 {here comes
the first surprise because the most played move is} Kh8 {is a novelty and this
is one of those moves that you can't say if it's just a normal move or a great
profilactic move coming from an engine that can predict the future. The game
is now original} 17. cxb7 Bxb7 18. Kh1 Bc8 19. Nb5 a6 20. Na7 g4 21. Nxc8 g3
22. Bg1 {and Black regains the piece with} Qxc8 23. b5 Nh7 24. a5 {Stockfish
11 disagrees with this move. It thinks that a5 is a sort of loss of time and
that white should play b6 immediately} h4 25. b6 h3 26. Qc2 {watching c7 and
controlling the second rank} Ng5 {If white is able to exchange the queens he
will win the game but} 27. Ra2 (27. Qxc7 {doesn't work} hxg2+ 28. Nxg2 Qh3 {
it's minus 4}) 27... hxg2+ 28. Nxg2 Qh3 29. Bxa6 {a piece sacrifice to deflect
the rook and clear the second rank} Rxa6 30. b7 Rb8 {the best move. But what
is the idea? it seems that after} 31. Qxc7 {everything is lost. But not for
this hybrid monster} Rxb7 32. Qxb7 Rxa5 {a second sacrifice that can't be
accepted} 33. Rc2 {with the idea to exchange the queens} (33. Rxa5 Qxg2+ {
queen sacrifice} 34. Kxg2 Nh4+ 35. Kh1 g2#) 33... Rc5 {blocks the c-file} 34.
Qb2 Rxc2 35. Qxc2 Kh7 {the great problem for white is that it can't move any
piece because everything is protecting something} 36. Qe2 {protecting two
important squares} Qh5 {Ne1 is the best try, the only piece that is able to
move} 37. Qa6 {attacking d6 but is also a trap} Nh3 {wants to capture on g1
and giv checkmate on h2} (37... Nxf3 38. Qe2) 38. Qb6 Kh6 39. Ne1 {the most
active reply. But what happens if white tries to move back and forth with the
queen? Let's watch} (39. Qa7 {still defending g1} Bf6 40. Qb6 Be7 41. Qa7 Bd8
42. Ne1 Nxg1 43. Qxg1 Nh4 {white is in zugzwang} 44. h3 Ba5 {and this ends the
game}) 39... Bf6 {similar to what we watched in the previous variation because
Black must improve his worst piece} 40. Qb2 {Lc0 is becoming human, trying to
do nothing and hope for the best} Bd8 41. Qa2 Nxg1 42. Rxg1 Ba5 {again is the
last punch} 43. Qb2 Bxe1 44. Rxe1 Nh4 {even stronger than Qxf3} 45. Re2 {
that's why Stockfish captures with the queen} Qxf3+ 46. Kg1 Qd3 47. hxg3 Qxg3+
48. Kf1 Qh3+ 49. Kf2 Qg2+ 50. Ke1 Nf3+ 51. Kd1 Qf1+ 52. Kc2 Qxe2+ 53. Kc3 {
NNUE exchanges the queen} Qxb2+ 54. Kxb2 {and we end here our analysis.} Nd4
55. Kb1 f3 56. Kb2 f2 57. Kc3 f1=Q 58. Kb2 Qe2+ 59. Kc3 Qc2+ 60. Kb4 Qb3+ 61.

The developers instead liked to study the game until checkmate and so the game ended 16 moves later. But don't worry because you will find all the moves in the description below the video. I don't know if this is the best King's Indian ever played and I'd like to listen for your opinion. What I hope is that you liked the game and that you will subscribe to my channe because I also cover all the top chess tournaments with daily videos. For now, thank you very much for watching and see you tomorrow. Goodbye
