Tengile female leopard

An extraordinary morning in the bush began with the sighting of the Ntsumi female. She lay in a tree with an impala in her clutches. She stashed the kill neatly in the tree and descended into the open grassland, and it wasn't long until we had realised why - her two precious cubs emerged from a nearby tree with hungry stomachs, no doubt.

It was at this point an unusual situation unfolded. Deep growls came from a nearby thicket, and the cubs bolted to the safety of the thickets. Emerging from the opposite side, the mysterious Tengile female appeared. Both Ntsumi and Tengile traded in growls and scent marking in proximity. This culminated in the two mothers almost squaring off before running next to one another along the road, seemingly separated by an invisible fence. An astonishing sight.

They halted before a thicket where Ntsumi headed to find her beloved cubs, growling and scent marking as she went. The wily Tengile moved to feast on the unguarded, stashed impala. She, too, has recently had cubs, and the meal would have been invaluable to her, nourishing her and her new brood.
