Chef, Kenny and Ned from South Park
Character Overview
Jerome “Chef” McElroy is a beloved character from the animated television series South Park, which premiered on Comedy Central in 1997. Voiced by Isaac Hayes (until 2006), Chef was the school cafeteria worker at South Park Elementary and one of the most prominent adult characters during the show’s early seasons. He is known for his deep, soulful voice, frequent singing, and for being a source of advice—often laced with humor and innuendo—for the boys: Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny.
Chef’s role in the show combined comedy, absurdity, and music. He was portrayed as wise yet eccentric, willing to help the kids solve problems but often breaking into sexually suggestive songs, most famously the 1999 hit “Chocolate Salty Balls” (from the Chef Aid: The South Park Album soundtrack), which became a chart success in the UK.

Character Overview
Kenneth “Kenny” McCormick is one of the four original central characters in the animated series South Park (alongside Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Eric Cartman). Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Kenny first appeared in the show’s debut episode Cartman Gets an Anal Probe (1997) and quickly became one of its most recognizable icons.
Kenny is known for his orange parka with a tightly drawn hood that muffles his speech, creating his trademark muffled and often obscene dialogue. His low-income background, his resilience despite constant misfortune, and most famously, his repeated deaths in early seasons made him stand out as a fan favorite.

Character Overview
Ned Gerblansky is a recurring character in South Park, first appearing in the show’s very first season (1997). He is a Vietnam War veteran, survivalist, and best friend of Jimbo Kern (Stan Marsh’s uncle). Together, Ned and Jimbo often serve as caricatures of gun culture, extreme patriotism, and conspiratorial survivalism.
Ned is most easily recognized by his electronic voice box, which he uses after losing his natural voice to throat cancer caused by heavy smoking. His slow, monotone, robotic delivery, paired with his deadpan humor, makes him one of the more distinctive supporting characters.
