Buster Welch is a legend in the world of horse training and as episode 5 of Yellowstone season 4 states, he’s regarded as one of three gods in the state of Texas alongside singer George Strait and God Almighty himself.
Born Sterling City, Texas on May 23rd, 1928, Buster Welch has been around horses all of his life and left home at the age of 13 to work on a ranch in Midland where he began breaking horses. Throughout his life, Buster worked on a number of prestigious ranches including the 6666 Ranch, which is where we meet him in Yellowstone. By the age of 18, Buster turned his attention to competition and took part in several NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) championships.
