The danger of buying "cheap and rust free" classic cars from South Africa

I'm answering a question I get a lot lately, and that's whether or not it's a good idea to buy "Cheap" and "Rust free" cars from South Africa. This seems to be a problem with classic Alfas in particular, and especially the 105 series cars.
