The talk takes its inspiration from the ideas of Mc Luhan. According to him the medium influences and determines the message: the web cannot be a repository of data to be disseminated but needs a language to be constructed and ordered, accessible to all, in order to become a means of disseminating culture. Fabio Finotti is the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of New York. Former director of the Center for Italian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where in 2007 he was appointed Mariano Di Vito Professor of Italian Studies in the Department of Romance Language and where he is now professor emeritus, from 2019 to 2021 he also headed the Interuniversity Program of Italian Studies at the University of Trieste-Udine. He is President of the Edizione Nazionale delle opere di Antonio Fogazzaro (National Edition of the works of Antonio Fogazzaro) and a member of the Accademia Olimpica in Vicenza, as well as of the scientific committees of several journals and publishing series. He is also President of AISLLI-Unesco (International Association for the Studies of Italian Language and Literature).
