Land Rover Series 3 Restoration - New Exhaust, Wiring Loom & Fairey Overdrive Pt. 22

In this episode I do an in-depth update on the project so far. And as the exhaust goes in, it really feels like I am getting somewhere. The ongoing issue with the chassis cross-member gets frustrating, but like most things I get there in the end. I haven’t gone into detail in past videos, but the cross-member does not line up with the gearbox mounts and I am on my third replacement so far. It turns out that the issue actually lies with the new chassis itself. The tabs which fix the cross-member in place are welded on slightly incorrectly on the passenger’s side causing alignment issues. But after a visit from the owners of Richards Chassis, they help me resolve the issue perfectly.

As I say at the end of the video, I would highly recommend measuring all of the angles of the chassis according to the Haynes manual before you start such a project. Just to be sure everything lines up.
