2021 Kawasaki KRX 1000 Trail Edition and Special Edition First Look Review
What’s going on SXS enthusiasts and welcome back to UTV on Demand News. We’ve been watching the countdown timer on Kawasaki’s website for a month now and Today, the curtain finally dropped.
Kawasaki added two new options to the 2021 Teryx KRX 1000 lineup with their new Special Edition and Trail Edition offerings. So we’re going to take a look at what we like about the KRX and what Kawasaki did and didn’t do to make their latest offerings more appealing to you, the potential buyer.
Trail Edition
Kawasaki’s trail Edition turns out to be a lightly accessorized package containing key add-ons that enhance appearance, terrain ability and protection. We were expecting to see a narrower version of the KRX for a more trail oriented experience, but some added protection and curb appeal will have to do for now.
Available in a Fragmented Camo Gray and neon color scheme, the trail package includes sport front and rear steel bumpers and nerf bars for close encounters with obstacles as well as a KQR Sport Roof.
While a very capable off roader, the addition of a Warn VRX 45 Powersport Winch rated for 4,500 lbs provides added piece of mind in case you get hung up.
The way we see it, you had better make more than appearance changes when you ask someone to dig deeper into their pockets. With the base model KRX 1000 retailing at $20,499, and the Tail Package costing $2,500 more at $22,999 we feel that the value of the added accessories pretty much covers the units increased cost leaving its unique appearance as a bonus.
Special Edition
Compared to the base model KRX, the Special Edition features the addition of a Hifonics bluetooth AM/AM audio system, a Warn VRX 45 Powersport Winch and Metallic Moondust White on Metallic Onyx Black color scheme and graphics. We feel a roof should come standard on any Special Edition model but unfortunately it doesn’t on the Special Edition KRX.
At $22,599, THE Special Edition KRX costs $2,100 more than the base model. With the Warn VRX 45 winch retailing for $449 we’d have some high expectations for the Hifonics stereo at an added price of $1,650.
Conclusion
We’re excited to see Kawasaki expanding the KRX lineup and the Trail Package has certainly caught our eye. However with the brands stated mission to become a leader in the segment, Kawasaki as well as other manufacturers are going to have to start innovating and offering new models to meet consumer demands at a faster rate.
The countdown clock might have left us a bit underwhelmed, however we’re eager to see what good times are coming down the pipe in the future from Kawasaki.
