Does AI understand the world? | Do you understand the world?

In this video, I share my thoughts about how large language models enable AI to develop a representation of the world. This process is similar to how humans understand the world through reading, but different from how animals understand their world through observation. You don’t need to know the details of how the internals of AI works but it’s important to understand the main concepts. The US government recently issued a request for comments about AI accountability. The public’s response to the government’s questions will influence US regulations toward AI.
