Soil Stabilisation

VHE has an in-house capability in lime cement and advanced stabilisation techniques to reduce the moisture content of cohesive soil. This improves the bearing capacity of the soil, or reduces the soil’s permeability to prevent the leaching of contaminants.

When added to contaminated soil, cement forms less soluble and more stable hydration products with the contaminants. Cement mixed into soil reacts with water, and forms a physical bond that immobilises contaminants. Solidification lowers the permeability of the treated material, thus inhibiting water movement and preventing leaching.

VHE has undertaken soil stabilisation on a large number of projects including:
- Moisture modification of wet materials
- Processing unsuitable material into engineering fills
- Replacing capping layers and sub base by modifying in-situ
materials
Treatment of gas works contaminated soils using modified binders

If you are looking for a land remediation contractor that can provide in-house soil stabilisation services, please contact VHE on 01226 320150 or go to http://www.vhe.co.uk/remediation/soil-stabilisation/ for more information.
