2 Therapy Sessions with a Cheating Narcissist (Role Play) Part 1
Disclaimer - this was a role play and not exactly how I am in session. I wouldn't have taken this client on past an initial call due to most likely the person saying someone else thinks they have childhood trauma - not the person calling. Additionally, I would have still provided the individual with a referral having seen them to provide continuity of some kind of treatment should they want to pursue that. A specialist working with personality disorders or of the like would have been that referral.
For those that ask if therapy can help a spouse, parent, loved one who exhibits narcissism, I wanted to create an insider's visual of what that would look like.

Therapy is usually contra indicated for the narcissist but in extremely rare cases it's possible. But in my experience, 99% of clients I've seen with it can't get the insight needed for successful therapy.
A major personality disorder trait is the absence of a self monitoring system.

I chose the issue of infidelity to highlight a scenario of the NPD's complete absence of knowing their impact on others. It could have been simply not showing up to an adult child's wedding but I wanted the scenario to be about the common A) NPD person gets in trouble B) NPD person attempts to get out of trouble.
