Global National: Nov. 1, 2020 | Quebec City stabbing suspect charged with 1st-degree murder

On this episode of Global National: An investigation is underway after two people were killed and five injured in Quebec City, after a man wearing a medieval outfit fatally attacked them with a sword on Halloween night. As Mike Le Couteur reports, police say a 24-year-old suspect is in custody, and that he has no apparent links to any terror group or religious ideology.

The U.S. presidential election is two days away. Both Joe Biden and President Donald Trump are using their final days of the campaign to reel in undecided voters. Trump went on a campaign blitz through America's rust belt and southeast, as Democratic rival, Joe Biden, focused on Philadelphia. As Jennifer Johnson reports, Biden is ahead in the polls, but it's way too close to call.

Despite the U.S. election result still days away, Democrats and Republicans are already seeking legal advice to contest the result. Jackson Proskow breaks down the legal strategies of both political camps.

And both Trump and Biden are spending more time campaigning to seniors in this election, an age group that proved vital to the president’s election win in 2016. Though the same demographic may not side with team Trump in 2020. Mike Armstrong looks at how an ageing population could play a critical role in determining the outcome.

Although this year's Remembrance Day will look different because of the pandemic, National Silver Cross Mother, Debbie Sullivan, still plans to honour her son, Lt. Chris Saunders, who died in a tragic submarine accident in 2004. As Ross Lord reports, Sullivan hopes other Canadians will still pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Plus, on the final stretch of the U.S. presidential campaign, a patch of grass a few kilometres from the White House portrays the human toll of America's pandemic, which is laid out in long lines of fluttering white flags. Global National's Dawna Friesen went to find out what's behind it.
