All-Electric 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford underestimated the Mustang Mach-E's performance specifications.

Since the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E debuted last November, there have been rumors that Ford's first all-electric SUV will have more power than Ford originally claimed. And now it's official. Ford has revealed updated performance specifications for the Mustang Mach-E, confirming that the extended range all-wheel-drive version will deliver 346 horsepower and 428 lb-f of torque, up from previous estimates of 332 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph is estimated to take around 5.5 seconds.

Extended-range rear-wheel-drive models will also now produce 290 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque, which is eight more horsepower and 11 more lb-ft than the original estimate. Standard-range all-wheel-drive models, on the other hand, are rated at 266 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque, up from 255 hp and 417 lb-ft.

Rear-wheel-drive standard range models also get a power increase up to 266 hp and 317 lb-ft, compared to the original estimate of 255 hp and 306 lb-ft.

"We remain dedicated to delivering on the promise of the Mustang name," said Ron Heiser, Mustang Mach-E chief program engineer. "These better-than-estimated performance figures show that our team is squeezing every last bit of performance out of this vehicle so that it not only delivers Mustang style but Mustang soul as well."

In addition, Ford has announced the orders books for the Mustang Mach-E are now open in the US. Pricing for the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E starts at $43,895, with deliveries due to start towards the end of the year.
