The Jewish Cemeteries of Slovakia
The history of Jewish communities in Slovakia is rich and varied stretching back as far as the 11th century. An estimated 650 Jewish burial sites in the country are a testament to this heritage. Following the devasating consequences of the Holocaust, Jewish cemeteries have fallen into disrepair and are at risk of disappearing entirely. The ESJF European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative was set up to preserve this legacy.
