WHAT to see in Osaka? | Osaka Castle, Dotonbori and MORE

What is there to see and do in Osaka? Our first time in Japan definitely took us by surprise. From the Osaka Castle to Dotonbori, Osaka has a lot to see, and in this Japan Travel Vlog we aim to cover as much as possible.

From getting around to information on each of the sites we visit, this is how you can spend 2/3 days in Osaka, without it costing too much!

When planning what to see in Osaka we looked at a range of free activities and paid for and took it day by day, our first time in Japan would be very different from anywhere we had been before and it was amazing.

We start 3 weeks of exploring Japan, backpacking and trying to travel as cheap as possible. It’s an expensive country but we manage to do for an average of £25/30 a day, sometimes way more, some less. In this Japan travel vlog we hope that our shoe string style travel will help if you are planning on coming here for a trip or interested in how to do the same.

We did NOT by the JR pass, and did not feel like we missed out massively, but it depends on your trip. We used an online calculator to determine whether it would be good for us or not.

We were also in Japan amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, before Japan declared a state of emergency and travel restrictions. We did not enter Japan from our home country or a country with high COVID-19 cases. We complied with local and national guidelines in Osaka, and each of the places we visited. It definitely affected our trip, we changed our plans several times due to bus cancellations, etc and eventually being called back to our home country after travelling abroad was no longer advised.

No matter, our time in Japan was amazing. There was a lot to see in Osaka.
