David Oyelowo talks Martin Luther King Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch at SELMA premiere

The stars of SELMA spoke to HELLO! Michelle Johnson and Donna Hardisty at the Mayfair Curzon, during Tuesday's London premiere.
David spoke about how he prepared to play renowned Civil Rights leader Dr Martin Luther King Jr as well as commenting on the "beautiful message" that Benedict Cumberbatch intended, following his statement apologising for using an offensive race term on a recent chat show (02:34 minutes).

Director Ava DuVernay spoke about her joy telling the story of MLK's march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965, and explained why she does not feel "snubbed" by the Oscars. David's co-star Colman Domingo also welled up as he explained why this film has inspired him to raise his voice to help others.

Selma is in cinemas Friday 6 February.
