Whenever possible, get to know your subjects in person… look at them for a good length of time. Look at them slowly. Be curious and look at their coats in the shade and in the sun. What colours might you discover? Use those awesome and unusual colours to your advantage! Don’t shy away from these bizarre choices! They can add an incredible amount of life to your animal paintings!
