You guys have been requesting I do a video covering more 90s teen horror outside of the Scream franchise, so I went ahead and watched every Scream knock off / rip off I could, just so I could bring you this video.

This is my largest ranking video to date, with a total of 17 films. The criteria I used to decide what would be considered for this list was pretty simple. It must be a horror movie. It can have comedic and thriller elements, but anything that is straight up a thriller, or a spoof (Scary Movie) doesn't count.

Even though this is for horror movies of the 90s, earlier films like Freddy's Dead, would not be considered 90s teen horror. Therefor, all movies on this list had to have been released between 1996 - 2001. This was the timeframe where most horror movies were following the postmodern trend. Most of the entries that were released in the early 2000s were still filmed and produced in the 90s, and are evocative of that time period.

It needs to have had a wide theatrical release, as there are way too many Scream copycats out there which went straight to video, and are mostly unknown and might not even have a Blu-ray or even a DVD release. Also anything that had a limited release would be exempt from these 90s horror rankings.

And most importantly of all, for the movie to be considered TEEN horror, the film's cast should be made up of mostly teenaged, college aged, or young adult characters, who are all featured very prominently on the movie's CW (WB) primetime show looking poster. Basically what the cover of all the Scream movies look like.

In case there is any further confusion, just imagine the cast. If it has Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Fairuza Balk, Rebecca Gayheart, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr, Ryan Philippe, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Clea Duvall, Josh Hartnett, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Jessica Cauffiel, Denise Richards, Marley Shelton, Timothy Olyphant, Rose McGowan, Tom Everett Scott, Brandi, Katherine Heigl, Eliza Dushku, Matthew Lillard, Jamie Kennedy, Drew Barrymore, Tara Reid, David Boreanaz, Ali Larter, James Marsden, Nick Stahl, Jody Lyn O'Keefe, Jerry O'Connell, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Devon Sawa, it's probably 90s teen horror.
