I'm making fried bananas Thai style with the mysterious Aloïs & Onn in my impossibly small apartment

We're back at it again with Aloïs and Onn (who again do not want to be on camera), at Phra Khaong market in Bangkok. Then heading back to my impossibly small kitchen where Onn is going to show me how to make fried bananas.

You see fried bananas everywhere on the streets of Bangkok and throughout most of Thailand. This crispy, crunchy, and sometimes sweet treat can really become addictive. In fact, after we made a few batches, I ate an entire basketful after everyone left.

Fried bananas are pretty easy to make, but it does take some time because they have to soak, and there's a bit of skill needed when it comes to slicing the bananas. As you'll see, it's not a skill that I have yet developed.

Here's a recipe for fried green plantains, enjoy:
Ingredients:
One bunch of green plantains
Saltwater mixture (1 tablespoon of salt and juice of half a lime mixed with enough water to cover the plantains)
Oil for frying
Salt or sugar
Instructions:
Peel the plantains and soak them for 30 minutes in a mixture of salt water and lime juice.
After soaking, slice the plantains as thinly as possible.
Heat oil in a frying pan to medium-high heat.
Put the sliced plantains in the oil, being careful to separate them so they don't stick together.
Fry the plantains until they become golden brown.
Remove the plantains from the oil quickly to avoid burning.
Drain the oil and place the plantains in a container lined with paper towels to further reduce excess oil.
Add salt or sugar to taste.
