Rafah Border Crossing to open soon for humanitarian aid
The US Embassy has said it has received information the Rafah Border Crossing – which was previously shut – is due to open in the next hour to allow humanitarian aid into the South of Gaza.
US President Joe Biden reached an agreement with Egypt’s leader during a call on Thursday following his trip to the Middle East to allow around 20 trucks into the region.
The trucks will carry food, water, and medicine into southern Gaza which has been under a total blockade and without basic essentials under Israeli authority’s order.
Over 200 trucks had been lining up at the border crossing waiting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Piles of humanitarian aid had been sitting in Egypt waiting to be delivered but were held back due to complications over how to monitor the trucks which enter Gaza and how to establish a continuous flow of essential items, according to the UN.
