Wireless Go internal mic problem, reason and possible fix

So I recently bought this Wireless Go microphone system from a well known microphone manufacturer, that was advertised as a professional system. The first unit I purchased was dead out of the box, and then the replacement died within 24 hours. The problem is that once you plug in an external mic into the TRS socket, the internal mic gets disconnected. Some users report never having a problem, other the internal mic sometimes returns and sometimes doesn't. So after contacting the manufacturer, I thought I would have a look at what to my engineering mind is most likely a mechanical problem. Sure enough it is just one connection not returning to the correct position most likely due to some poorly placed tape. The video shows how to get access to the internasl to repair your own unit. I would suggest returning the unit to where you bought it or contacting the manufacturer before you attempt any repair yourself, but as not very many people have addressed this issue I thought I would make a video.

UPDATE: After removing the kapton tape from the top of the TRS socket and then bending the tip by-pass pin back the internal mic now works. My theory is that the by-pass on the tip of the TRS socket gets stuck in the kapton tape. Try it at your own risk.

I have also taken the opportunity to remove the stupid light guide so that the bright blue LEDs are now rather subdued;-)

This sort of failure really should not be in a product at this price point portraying itself as professional equipment.
