The Sidecar That Blocked Every Release!

Our Kubernetes deployment was perfectly healthy… except for one sidecar that blocked the entire release.

Sidecars are powerful, but they can also become silent blockers in Kubernetes deployments. In our case, the main application was ready, yet the rollout kept failing because a single sidecar container wasn’t healthy. Since a Pod only becomes ready when all containers pass their readiness checks, the entire release pipeline came to a halt.

This short shares a real-world lesson: sidecars are ideal for platform concerns like service meshes or observability, but when misconfigured, they can introduce unexpected operational friction.
