Summer recreation camp “Mshanetski kolyby” ("Mshanets Huts") seeks is aimed at developing green tourism in picturesque surroundings of Starosambirsky district (Lviv region, Ukraine). The economy of village Mshanets (and the other 10 ones) is depressed today.
But the province had a bright and glorious history.
The aim of the project is to create a complex for healthy outdoor recreation, organizing Christian camps for youth, youth congresses, sports, and patriotic training, and also for ordinary tourists.
The mission of the project is to promote a healthy lifestyle for youth together with the popularization of such type of rest.
The infrastructure of the future complex will include:
• comfortable huts and gazebos,
• open-air cinema,
• bathing place,
• a football field and volleyball platform,
• obstacle course,
• hand operated cable car,
• water slide,
• hut kitchen,
• outdoor canteen,
• outdoor showers etc.
Since the project is being implemented in an economically depressed region (which is conducive to tourism) it is intended to give the local residents an example of how to make money on green tourism.
In addition, the economic situation will be improved by the following:
• employment among the rural population will increase,
• incomes for local people will rise,
• farmstead beautification will be modernized,
• social infrastructure will upgrade,
• the assortment of farmyard will expand,
• peasants will be able to sell their subsistence agriculture production at home,
• the cultural and educational level of the local population will go up.
The activity of camp will contribute to other tourist type development: agritourism, historical and cultural, mountaineering, and sports tourism.
Such relax will be cheap and accessible to everyone. This is one of the greatest benefits. In addition, hikers can take advantage of the following services:
• horseback riding,
• picking mushrooms,
• hiking trip to a Magura Mountain (0.85 miles),
• hiking to an ancient Lavriv monastery,
• visit the Zubrytskyj museum (currently it needs to be restored),
• find the guerrilla cache (kryivka) etc.

According to the following calculations, the project seems completely cost-effective and economically feasible. That’s why it will be able to develop into a great tourist complex with a wide range of services for different clients.
This will provide an opportunity to attract large investors, for instance, for tourism development, farm management (sheep raising, production of dairy products).
In the long run, such activity will give an opportunity to this stagnant region to raise the economic and social levels.
