Tilman Fertitta Announces $17.6 Billion Deal to Buy Caesars Entertainment

Houston billionaire Tilman Fertitta has announced plans to acquire Caesars Entertainment in a deal valued at approximately $17.6 billion, including debt. If approved, the transaction would combine Fertitta’s Golden Nugget casino operations — including Golden Nugget Lake Charles — with Caesars’ extensive portfolio of gaming properties across the United States.

The proposed merger could have a significant impact on Southeast Texas gamblers who frequently travel to Lake Charles, creating one of the largest casino operators in the country under a single ownership group.

Company officials say the deal would also combine the 24K Select Club and Caesars Rewards loyalty programs, allowing customers to earn and redeem benefits across a larger network of casinos. The acquisition still requires approval from shareholders and gaming regulators before it can move forward.
