The Magic of Molting! How to help your hermit crabs molt

Hermit crabs need deep sand to dig down and bury, so they can molt and grow a new exoskeleton. It's important to set up your tank so that your hermit crabs can molt properly (and safely). They need a deep mixture of play sand and coconut fiber, just like they would have at the beach. I have about 10 inches of substrate in my tank, to make sure they are able to bury deep enough. I got bags of regular play sand at Home Depot; don't get the stuff they sell at the pet store, it's not good for them.

Check out this link for instructions on how to set up your sand and substrate correctly, so your crabby little friends can molt and grow:

And this is the coconut fiber I mix in with the sand: https://zoomed.com/eco-earth-coconut-fiber-substrate/

Keep watching and subscribe! I'm here to help you set your hermit crab tank and show you how to care for your hermit crabs.
