Experimenting with ancient shawls

Here i experiment with two types of fabrics, red (linen cotton blend) and the blue (pure linen) to recreate some ancient shawl styles from the old Assyrian period and beyond.
Starting with the red fabric i demonstrate;
- two variations of the basic wrap around (kilt) shawl,
- two variations of closed wrap around shawls based on an academic article

What i believe i have conveyed in this video is that large pieces of fabric were very valuable items that could have been used by different peoples for example within a family and wrapped in different styles on different occasions. Fabrics were precious and would have been passed down from generation to generation.

I hope a visual reference of fabrics the size of 8 to 7 Cubits in length such as documented in ancient cuneiform texts e.g. from the old Assyrian trading colonies has been established.
