Growing flower animation & creation in After Effects - using tapered shape strokes

In this After Effects Tutorial, I'll show you how to create and animate a growing flower, using tapered shape layers.

First, we'll create all the elements, like the stem, two leafs and the flower head. Therefore we use the new "taper" attribute in the stroke property.
Then we'll add the "bevel and emboss" layer style to add some light and shadow to the shape.

Then we'll animate the strokes, using trim paths. For some secondary motion, we'll also animate the paths. We'll use "trace paths" to make sure, the flower head moves exactly with the top of the stem.
Therefore we link the progression attribute to the end value of the trim paths animator.
