Quick and Dirty: Eli's Tour of Our First Gnome Home - Check it Out!

We love building survival shelters and we've slept in a few overnight - sometimes when it has been far, far below freezing. While these shelters have kept us safe and warm, they're generally not "leave no trace."

So, we decided to experiment with Gnome sized homes instead, so we can have less negative impact on the environment. As an added benefit, the tools are much lighter to carry up into the mountains, and the work goes much faster!

We hope you can build your own Gnome home in the wild. Just remember - never cut a live tree (if it's green or if it bends - it's probably alive), and go far off the trail (with a trusted adult, and your ten essentials) so you don't ruin the prestine beauty of the natural wilderness for other people. We may love gnome homes, but other people recreate in the backcountry for other reasons, which are just as important.

Enjoy!
