Steel + Ash Coffee Table - Part 2 of 3

Get this table! https://www.etsy.com/listing/680364679/contemporary-coffee-table-steel-and-wood

I made a coffee table with a steel structure and ash tops. This is by far the most complex project that I've ever undertaken: I've had to learn how to weld (flux-core wire, with no gas) and I faced the challenges of making panels out of rough-sawn solid ash without a jointer.
This is a 3-part video series, and in this second one I'll show you how I made the solid ash tops starting from rough lumber. I don't have a jointer, so I had to face-joint the boards with my home-made sled and edge-joint them with a No6 handplane. I joined the boards with dowels, using a jig I made myself. The final tops were almost perfectly flat and required very little sanding.
Stay tuned for Part 3 next week!
