Rising beef prices hurting local restaurants

If grilling burgers or steaks has felt more expensive lately, you aren't imagining it.

According to NerdWallet, beef prices have climbed nearly 15% over the past year, putting pressure on both consumers and restaurants.

For barbecue restaurants, one of the biggest challenges is brisket, a customer favorite that has become increasingly expensive to serve.

At Salt City Barbecue, owner Rusty Monson said the price he pays for raw brisket has nearly doubled since he opened the business four years ago, rising from about $4 a pound to nearly $8 a pound.
