You are what you eat, was the message to these army girls in 1943.
While exercise plays an important role, the advice on healthy eating and following a balanced healthy diet, is hard to argue with. Though some of the food on the 1940's menu would probably not pass muster today.
"It's both what you eat, and how much, that counts!"
"Your body is a machine, which runs on fuel called calories. Calories which are not used for activity are stored in the body as fat!"
It also includes a piece on shape-wear. Don't rely too much on your girdle. Any foundation garment wears out with use. But your muscles do just the opposite!"
