Boss Energy reached ‘technical breakthrough’ in mining uranium

Boss Energy Managing Director Duncan Craib says his company reached a “technical breakthrough” which allowed for the reopening of the Honeymoon Uranium Mine in SA.

“We acquired the asset in December 2015,” he told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.

“The challenge they had was they weren’t able to leech the right tenor of uranium from the wellfields or the grade.

“They were also sort of running an uneconomic plant with solvent extraction.

“So we set about changing solvent extractant into iron exchange.”
