Write better to speak better!

I’m an English teacher with extensive experience in writing and teaching non-native English learners, especially those preparing for timed exams like TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, OPIc, and EIKEN.

I also offer speaking lessons, but I place more emphasis on written tasks. What’s the rationale behind this approach?

Having a regular writing practice boosts verbal fluency. With today’s flood of information, writing is crucial for organizing your thoughts. After all, we have a limited capacity for processing information (or rather, we have trained our brains to process a fairly limited amount of information at a time).

We may make sense of things in our heads, but when we take the time to write down what’s on our minds, we organize our thoughts, making them cohere even more.

The more organized our thoughts are, the better speakers we become.
