#5 Best ever bread rolls, SLOW LIVING and homemade toothpaste on a farm in CENTRAL PORTUGAL

Living in Central Portugal on a 3 ha farm isn't always busy. Well, it could be, if you let it. But is also very important to slow down, enjoy the moment, focus on what you are doing at that time. And baking is one of activities which makes you do exactly that. You need to focus, follow recipe, watch it rise, look after it and finish what you have started.
This recipe is ideal for beginners as well as seasoned bakers. It's easy, versatile and fool proof. You can choose a flour of your liking but you need to experiment with the amount of water you add so that your dough isn't too runny. Because I use half a rye flour I need more water for rye absorbs more liquid than other flours.

Walking through the land, observing trees, flowers, birds and vegetables growing is another activity supplying you with endless possibilities to reflect, slow down and appreciate your hard work.
Animals are my cure to any bad thoughts and uncertainties which may arise. You just watch dogs playing or simply resting, being in the moment. Dogs are true presents sent to us to remind us of the present.
And last but not least, as we are constantly trying to be self sufficient and rely on our own abilities and skills, is to be able to make as many things we need ourselves. And one of such things is a toothpaste. We have done some research into commonly sold and used toothpastes and found quite shocking information. You better do your own research. One thing I will say is that I will not support anything that is not supposed to act in my wellbeing.

Bread rolls (bread) recipe

Ingredients:
(put into a bowl in following order - IMPORTANT)
10g salt
170g cold water
170g hot water
30g olive oil
seeds or nuts of your choice (optional)

250g white flour
250g rye bread flour
10g dried yeast
Mix well for 10 minutes
Cover the bowl with cloth and let it rise for an hour

Grease a deep frying pad with olive oil
Grease a bit a worktop and turn the dough onto the worktop
Fold the dough twice or three times, making sure your hands are greased with oil as well
Shape the dough into a sausage like shape and cut into 8 equal pieces
Shape each piece into a ball and place into the pan
You can grease the top of the balls with a little bit of oil as well
Put a lid on and let it stand for 15 minutes to rest and rise second time

Now steam the rolls for 18 minutes on one side on low medium heat
After 18 minutes turn the rolls over and steam for another 7 minutes, keeping the lid on.

After it's been done turn the rolls onto cooling rack
And finally ENJOY
