INSANE Malaysian Mall + Trying Weird Desserts in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia and Asia in general is known for their huge malls, so we set out to explore one of the biggest ones in Kuala Lumpur to see what all the fuss is about!
The mall we visited was Berjaya Times Square in central KL. It includes an indoor theme park with a roller coaster, and happens to be the second largest indoor theme park in Asia. It also happens to be one of the largest shopping malls in the world.
The mall itself has thousands of stores so we spent a significant amount of time just exploring the various floors and seeing what was there. We also checked out the theme park but didn’t go on any rides.
While at the mall we tried some Malaysian desserts including, Talam, ondeh-ondeh and pulut tai tai. Along with our desserts we got a couple of drinks- a coco latte, and brown sugar pearl milk tea.

Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur was officially opened on 29th September 2003 by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The RM1.75 billion building was developed by Berjaya Assets Berhad which is majority owned by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan.
With over 2.5 million people visiting the mall each month, Berjaya Times Square prides itself as the best shopping experience under one roof for locals and tourists alike.
Talam ondeh-ondeh :
These tasty kuih are made from glutinous rice flour, corn flour, palm sugar and grated coconut. The dough is divided into tiny balls which are dropped in boiling water to cook. The cooked desserts are then rolled in grated coconut.
Pulut tai tai
‘Pulut tai tai’ or ‘pulut tekan’ is a Nyonya kuih made of fluffy glutinous rice steamed in coconut milk. Known as pulut tekan because it literally translates to ‘pressed glutinous rice’, kuih pulut tekan is served together with 'kaya' which is a coconut milk spread.
