This film gives a new narrative to the "boo-hoo sad story, black american dad story" narrative that plagued the life of Sebastian Carson, who grew up fatherless. Having a son of his own, he realized that there were still voids in his heart towards fatherhood, and if Langston is going to have a great life of legacy, the roots must be addressed - and addressed with vulnerability, transparency, and forgiveness.

7:30 Lineage is important in today's time because it reveals we have to repair broken lineage if we are to build successful legacy, and sometimes that is easier said than done - the reward of going into our past for the sake of our future is greater than never acknowledging and healing our pasts. On the journey of repairing broken lineage, you may discover that you aren't much different from that brokenness.
