Romania Food Tour | BEST and WORST of Romanian Food
I'm not a foodie, and I'm not particularly adventurous when it comes to trying new foods. But during a road trip through Romania I decided to try local delicacies...and strange, weird foods...
My trip took me from Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, through the towns of Turda, Sighisoara and Brasov, and then onwards to Bran Castle, Constanta and Mamaia by the Black Sea, and I finally had my final dinner in Bucharest Old Town.
The things I tried include:
- Tochitura, a pork stew with polenta and goat cheese topping
- A Medieval Omelette with kaiser
- Ribeye steak...not very traditional, but meat is always good
- Snacks with sparkling wine filling
- Transylvanian Filled Paprikas
- Very dull corn on the cob
- Chicken Romanian Style...with polenta
- Pork Stuffed Cabbage Leaves...with polenta once again
What did I learn from all of this? Romanian snacks are so-so, I hate goat cheese, and everything traditional in Romania comes served with polenta. But overall it was a really interesting experience!
