Canon 70-210mm f/4 lens review with samples (APS-C and full-frame)

Here's another legacy lens which I've been curious about - the push-pull, Canon 70-210 f/4. Technically, this is an equivalent (and the forerunner) to Canon's popular and excellent 70-200mm f/4 USM 'L' lens...only, the 70-210 can be found for about £50 on eBay. Can it possibly be any good for a modern digital camera?
