Animation Update - Solving Hand & Finger Motion | Depeche Mode - Useless VR

Hi everyone, continuing work on recreating Depeche Mode - Useless as a VR experience.

I’ve stopped numbering the days - it’s clear this project will take longer than originally planned, and that’s okay.

I kept working on character animation and ran into an issue with hand and finger movement. AI-based mocap either struggles with this or misses it completely, so I started researching alternative solutions.

The direction I’m going now is using the Meta XR plugin for Unreal Engine 5 and hand tracking directly from my VR headset. The quality looks very promising.

Next step is figuring out how to properly record and retarget those hand movements onto the MetaHuman skeleton.
