面對無法避免的災害，我們該怎麼做? In the face of unavoidable disasters, what should we do?

台灣，我們居住的土地，刻劃著容易被遺忘的危機！

根據世界銀行的風險數據顯示，台灣屬於天然災害高度危險的國家，歷年來我們不斷面臨地震、颱風的侵擾，全球暖化的異常氣候也致使洪災頻傳，近年更受到疫情的威脅，在人口密度高的台灣，如何建立第一道防線，推動社區防災已然是我們的必修課題。

從2009年8月8日的莫拉克風災開始，芥菜種會就已投入救災工作，在原鄉受災地區從事災難救援等，直到2018年芥菜種會正式成立防救災中心，參與0206地震的救援，積極對員工培訓，以及工作夥伴的防救災訓練，2019年開始對城市做防救災的觀念宣導，先後舉辦第一屆、第二屆的安全城市嘉年華會，同時加入政府防救災的聯繫會報，目的是讓我們累積能力和經驗，幫助社區夥伴進行防災教育，未來在面對災難的時候，能夠具備自救和互助的能力，當我們有很好的準備，災難的影響就能降到最低。

Taiwan, an island with crisis that is easy to be forgotten! According to the risk data of the World Bank, Taiwan is a country with a high risk of natural disasters. Over the years, Taiwan has been constantly facing the intrusion of earthquakes and typhoons. The extreme climate of global warming has also caused frequent floods in Taiwan.
Taiwan has a high population density; in recent years, the country has been under the threat of COVID-19 pandemic. How to establish the first line of defense and promote community disaster prevention is already a compulsory topic for us.

Since Typhoon Morakot on August 8, 2009, the Mustard Seed Mission (MSM) has been engaged in disaster relief work in disaster-stricken rural areas. Until 2018, MSM officially established a Disaster Prevention and Relief Center and participated in the rescue of the 0206 Hualien earthquake. Since then, we devoted on disaster prevention training for staff and working partners.

In 2019, we began to promote the concept of disaster prevention and relief in cities and counties. The first and second Safe City Carnivals were held successively. At the same time, we joined the government's disaster prevention and relief contact meeting. It is for us to accumulate abilities and experience to help community partners in disaster prevention education. When facing disasters in the future, we can help ourselves and have ability to help others. When we are well prepared, the impact of disasters can be minimized.
