Let's slow it all the way down and compute these by hand. 📐

Let's slow it all the way down and compute these by hand. 📐

The dot product, the magnitude, and cosine similarity are each a few arithmetic steps. Do them once on tiny vectors and the formulas stop being symbols — they become moves you can picture. Then we connect every step back to the angle between two arrows.

This is the mechanics post: every operation, traced line by line.

INSIDE THIS POST:
• dot product as multiply-then-sum
• magnitude as the Pythagorean length
• why dot = ‖a‖‖b‖cos(θ)
• cosine similarity step by step
• reading the score: -1, 0, and 1
• the geometry behind perpendicular = 0

Compute one example by hand and you'll trust the formula forever. Save it. 👇
