“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1Tim. 1:15 )

Meditation:
“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Mark 2:17). God “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1Tim. 2:4). What St. Paul says is true, and this is certainly a trustworthy saying, since it is impossible to find more beautiful, more joyful and more comforting words on earth, and no sayings of wise men can compare to them. Jesus Christ, the only Begotten Son of God, came to earth to save sinners! Having heard and correctly understood this saying, a person will immediately acquire the greatest wealth in the world, and will be filled with the kind of bliss that nothing else can give.

St. Paul wrote what the Savior Himself announced to sinful mankind: “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Note that it is not to saints and not to the righteous that the God of Love sent His Son – no, He sent Him to seek and save those who are perishing, to wash the unclean with His blood, to resurrect sinners to a new life, and to atone by His death for all of humanity, perishing in sin!

He wants “everyone to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” He does not wish the death of sinners, but that they convert and live.

Hearing of this astonishing miracle, the whole world should fall prostrate in the dust before the Lord! Let us also take the wonderful meaning of these words to heart, and if up until now nothing could subdue our stubborn, hardened heart, now, heeding this wonderful call of Divine Love, overwhelmed and brought low by the infinite mercy of our Savior, Who shed His Holy Blood for us and Who calls sinners to repentance, let us repent and hasten to His feet in fervent prayer and gratitude for His ineffable gift.

День за днем. 29 апреля (12 мая)
«Верно и всякого принятия достойно слово, что Христос Иисус пришел в мир спасти грешников» (1Тим. 1:15)

«Я пришел призвать не праведников, а грешников к покаянию» (Мк. 2:17). Бог «хочет, чтобы все люди спаслись и достигли познания истины» (1Тим. 2:4). Верно, как говорит ап. Павел, и, действительно, всякого принятия достойно это слово, ибо более прекрасного, более радостного, более утешительного слова не найти на земле, и никакие изречения мудрецов не могут с ним сравниться. Иисус Христос, Единородный Сын Божий, пришел в мир спасти грешников! Услышав и правильно уразумев это слово, человек сразу обогатится высшим богатством в мире и исполнится таким блаженством, которое ничто другое ему дать не может.

То, о чем писал ап. Павел, Спаситель возвестил Сам грешному человечеству: «Я пришел призвать не праведников, а грешников к покаянию». Заметьте, не к святым, не к праведным послал Бог Любви Сына Своего – нет, Он послал Его искать и спасти погибших, омыть нечистых Своею Кровью, возродить грешников к новой жизни, искупить Своею смертью все человечество, погибающее в грехах!

Он хочет, чтобы «все спаслись и достигли познания истины». Он не хочет смерти грешников, но чтобы они обратились и были живы.

Услышав о таком поразительном чуде, весь мир должен бы повергнуться во прах перед Господом! Проникнемся же и мы чудным смыслом этих слов и, если даже доселе ничего не могло сломить наше упорное, ожесточенное сердце, теперь, внемля этому чудному призыву Божественной Любви, сокрушенные, подавленные бесконечным милосердием нашего Спасителя, пролившего за нас Свою Святую Кровь и призывающего грешников к покаянию, поспешим, кающиеся, к Его ногам в горячей молитве и благодарении за неизреченный Его дар.
