Belle da Costa Greene: The Black Woman Who Lead The Morgan Library & Museum | Left of Black #SHORTS

Belle da Costa Greene was THE librarian for The Morgan Library & Museum, selected by American tycoon J.P. Morgan himself to amass an impressive collection of books and art that was later made available to the public under her leadership. What most did not know is that Belle was a Black woman, passing as white, who became one of the most powerful figures in the library world. Dr. Tracy Denean Sharpley-Whiting shared her story in her masterclass at the From Slavery to Freedom Lab along with the importance of librarians. Watch the full convo: https://youtu.be/D3PmzuOFrjk
